Our one and only artist / manager of the label didn't get to work on music as much this year. A new project popped up, and the opportunity was taken.

Here's what he has to say about the new project:

New Project - Writing/Worldbuilding

So, this was a thing I was not expecting to do this year; it just kind of happened.

Near the end of March this year, I took a break from working on music production. During that time, I mostly played Day of Dragons game and watched the final season of Dreamwork's Dragons: The Nine Realms on Hulu. When I got to the last episode, I realized it wasn't just the end of the season; it seemed to be the end of the story. And since the third movie ends the way it does (I won't spoil it!) and this show takes place after the third movie, I think it's just the end of the story for the franchise (as far as I know).

I was kind of sad about it ending; there weren't many episodes (at least compared to the first few shows). While I was falling asleep, dragons were certainly on my mind that night, and a little scenario played out in my head. I liked it enough that I thought about writing it down, just to have the idea written down somewhere. The next day, I wrote down my idea on a website I found out about a few days before called World Anvil.

Well, I continued to do some worldbuilding for it, and the next thing I knew, a month had passed. I did not intend to take a break from music for that long. I kept working on the story but also finally finished a track for release, which I did on June 28th.

During July, World Anvil holds a little event called Summer Camp, and they come out with writing prompts for each week of the month. I participated in this event and wrote something for all 42 prompts! I had branching ideas for some of the articles, so I actually created 64 new articles in total during July; that's a full stack!

World Anvil started a new event on their site this year, NovelEmber, in November! I guess a lot of people in the community were asking them to do something similar to the NaNoWriMo thing since some of the community was switching over to World Anvil. The goal is to write 50k words during November, although World Anvil is more relaxed with their events.

Anyway, I participated in this, too. Though, I had a goal of 20k words instead of 50k. I somehow managed to actually write almost 21k words in a month! I have a substack post about what I wrote every day during this event.

So now I kind of have a first rough draft of my story. :)

NovelEmber 2024

This whole thing started as some little scene that played out in my head when I tried to fall asleep one night. I did some worldbuilding for it, and now I somehow managed to turn it into a thing. Year of the Dragon, eh? 😄

NullifySynth

In last year's plans post, we mentioned we'd like to get more work done with the NullifySynth VST. Unfortunately, our one and only person on the label did not have time for this at all.

We're not sure if we'll have time for it this year either, so we're deciding to put a pause on it for now. We'll see what happens with it.
